SUMMARY:Senska Center for Education and Engagement Sign Unveiling
DESCRIPTION:Frances Senska Center for Education and Engagement Sign Unveiling \n\n\n\nFriday\, June 2\, 4:30 pmArchie Bray FoundationFree and open to the public \n\n\n\nA new sign will be unveiled Friday\, June 2\, 4:30 pm\, at the Frances Senska Center for Education and Engagement\, located at the Archie Bray Foundation (The Bray). Join us for a toast to Frances Senska and her contribution to education in the ceramic arts. \n\n\n\nSenska was a renowned ceramicist who taught at Montana State University for over 25 years. She was a pioneer in the field of ceramics and her work is held in collections around the world. She was a dedicated educator and mentor as well as a practicing artist and her influence helped to shape modern ceramics. \n\n\n\nThe Frances Senska Center for Education and Engagement is one of the many branches of The Bray which strives to inspire creativity and innovation through the ceramic arts. \n\n\n\nThe new sign is a fitting tribute to Senska’s legacy and her commitment to the arts. It is a reminder of her impact on the world of ceramics and her dedication to education. \n\n\n\nAttendees are invited to visit the resident artist studios during Open Studios from 5-7 pm immediately following the sign unveiling. This a great opportunity to meet artists from across the country and around the globe\, see their work in person\, and learn more about their creative process.

SUMMARY:POSTPONED\, RESCHEDULE TBD: Artist Amplified; Colby Charpentier
DESCRIPTION:In Person or Streaming Online! \n\n\n\nPOSTPONED\, RESCHEDULE TBD:Join us at The Bray as long term Resident and Visions West Fellow Colby Chapentier shares insight into his artistic practice and research.  My studio research is centered around intentionally misunderstanding the world so that I can break the frame and reintroduce myself to what I know…I prioritize research over producing product. While a lot of my work uses the vessel format\, I’m not interested in making the same pot twice. I use an iterative approach so I can get all the “what-ifs” out into space\, and then deal with them. Once I’ve framed a question\, it’s time to hit the studio and build a process to investigate it. The process of making is how I ask and answer questions. The objects I produce are a residue of this process. \n\n\n\nOur newly revamped Artist Amplified lecture and demonstration series allows artists and art enthusiasts to share their history\, process\, and conceptual motivations with the public through various presentation formats. We can’t wait to discover what Colby has to share! \n\n\n\nPOSTPONED\, RESCHEDULE TBD: IN-PERSON: Let us Know You’re Coming!  Doing so helps us prepare\, but more importantly\, helps us secure funding that makes this series possible. Thank you in advance for taking the time to register! \n\n\n\nPOSTPONED\, RESCHEDULE TBD: JOIN VIRTUALLY! (Link goes live at the time of the event) \n\n\n\nWant to learn more about Sponsorship opportunities? From 2013-2016\, he worked as a studio assistant to artists Daniel Clayman and Chris Gustin. SUMMARY:Experience Class; Sgraffito Inside\, Identity Vessels
DESCRIPTION:This class is for anyone looking to expand on their surface decorating techniques\, explore narrative hand built forms\, or get their hands in clay for the first time! We will be drawing inspiration from the work of Grayson Perry to talk about the ways personal histories and identities can be represented on ceramics. We’ll make small hand built pots\, and carve through layers of slips and underglaze to create fine lines and imagery that expresses the self. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re looking to experience clay for the first time or are seeking a fun filled creative activity — our Experience Classes offer hands-on learning for a variety of student types\, abilities\, and interests. Works made will be ready for pick up 2 weeks following your class.
