SUMMARY:POSTPONED\, RESCHEDULE TBD: Artist Amplified; Colby Charpentier
DESCRIPTION:In Person or Streaming Online! \n\n\n\nPOSTPONED\, RESCHEDULE TBD:Join us at The Bray as long term Resident and Visions West Fellow Colby Chapentier shares insight into his artistic practice and research.  My studio research is centered around intentionally misunderstanding the world so that I can break the frame and reintroduce myself to what I know…I prioritize research over producing product. While a lot of my work uses the vessel format\, I’m not interested in making the same pot twice. I use an iterative approach so I can get all the “what-ifs” out into space\, and then deal with them. Once I’ve framed a question\, it’s time to hit the studio and build a process to investigate it. The process of making is how I ask and answer questions. The objects I produce are a residue of this process. \n\n\n\nOur newly revamped Artist Amplified lecture and demonstration series allows artists and art enthusiasts to share their history\, process\, and conceptual motivations with the public through various presentation formats. We can’t wait to discover what Colby has to share! \n\n\n\nPOSTPONED\, RESCHEDULE TBD: IN-PERSON: Let us Know You’re Coming!  Doing so helps us prepare\, but more importantly\, helps us secure funding that makes this series possible. Thank you in advance for taking the time to register! \n\n\n\nPOSTPONED\, RESCHEDULE TBD: JOIN VIRTUALLY! (Link goes live at the time of the event) \n\n\n\nWant to learn more about Sponsorship opportunities? Email education@archiebray.org \n\n\n\nAbout The Presenter \n\n\n\nColby grew up in Smithfield\, RI and received his MFA in Ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2021\, and his BFA in Ceramics and Glass from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2013. From 2013-2016\, he worked as a studio assistant to artists Daniel Clayman and Chris Gustin. He has since completed residencies at Sonoma Ceramics in Sonoma\, CA\, The Morean Center for Clay in St. Petersburg\, FL\, Harvard Ceramics at Harvard University in Allston\, MA\, and Goggleworks Center for the Arts in Reading\, PA. The figurines represent the variety of human behavior\, and opposing poles of existence\, some generating and others destructive. Will there be a catastrophe or a regeneration? \n\n\n\nUse this link to join virtually
