
Layered: Print Matrices and Clay

Try your hand at several traditional printmaking processes and discover how they can translate to clay. This print focused clay class will utilize simple hand build forms (think tiles, trivets, wall pieces, and shallow platters) to play with and incorporate a variety of print techniques into your clay surfaces. Discover how to add depth to your designs with carved blocks, handmade stamps, hand drawn screen-printed images, and a new approach to creative thinking in clay! From Flat to Fab
Tuesdays 6-9pm (Jan 17 – March 7)
Instructor: Austin Riddle
Explore the process of designing ceramic forms with the use of paper templates and clay slabs in this introduction level hand building class! Design and cut paper templates by hand or with the use of a Cricut plotter machine and discover how to easily take your ideas from flat to fab to create beautiful tableware or sculptures! Calm, Coiling, Collected
Wednesdays, 6-9pm (Jan 18 – March 8)
Instructor: Shea Burke
Slow down, focus, and feel the clay with every pinch in this inspiring class. Often thought of as an introduction to clay, coil-building far exceeds this basic thought and is instead a technique for creative expression with unique value. This meditative process requires an entirely different approach than working with slabs or throwing on the wheel. Learn new ways to approach the vessel, challenge your scale, hone your hand-building skills, and unearth the expansive potential of coil-building! Fired / Unfired

To fire, or not to fire? That is the question – or certainly will be on your quest of discovery in this strikingly unique class! Uncover the sculptural and decorative potential of paper clay and unfired adobe, while learning about cold surfacing (non-glaze) options. My experience in clay is limited or long ago, and I'm not very comfortable working independently. I'm seeking to learn basic clay techniques and am excited to have a good time while learning something new!
