Michelle Im (b. 1984, Atlanta, GA) is a Korean American ceramic artist based in Queens, New York. Through figurative sculpture, her work explores themes of labor, cultural identity, displacement, and the tension between collectivism and individualism. Im was an Artist-in-Residence at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center & Kohler Co. Arts/Industry program (2026) and a Museum of Arts & Design Artist Fellow (2024). Her honors include the Center for Craft Teaching Artist Cohort (2023), American Craft Council Emerging Artist Cohort (2023), and Ceramics Monthly Emerging Artist (2022). She has participated in residencies at Township10 (2024), Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts (Guest Artist, 2023), Penland School of Craft (Distinguished Fellow, 2023), and the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts (Visiting Artist, 2022). Her work was included in the Brooklyn Museum’s “Brooklyn Artists Exhibition” (2024–25) and has been reviewed by The New York Times. Recent exhibitions include NADA New York (2025), DIMIN Gallery (New York, NY; 2025), and The Clay Studio (Philadelphia, PA; 2024). Im holds a BA in Biological Sciences and Art from the State University of New York at Buffalo and is a faculty member of Greenwich House Pottery in New York City. She is represented by DIMIN Gallery in New York, NY.
